The renal dietetic team based at Hull Royal Infirmary has 5 Dietitians and one Dietetic Assistant Practitioner and is supported by admin and clerical staff. Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust provides specialist renal care to a large geographical area that encompasses Hull, East Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire. The dietitians are valued members of the multidisciplinary team and we provide outpatient services to pre dialysis, haemodialysis (including our satellite units in Bridlington, Scunthorpe and Grimsby), peritoneal dialysis and transplant clinics. We also provide inpatient services to the Hull Acute Kidney unit which is a 19 bed ward at Hull Royal Infirmary. A full competency led training and support package will be provided to ensure you can develop your clinical skills in renal medicine and there will also be opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills in other areas such as critical care.

Working alongside Specialist Dietitians, you will have a varied caseload of your own and support our team in the training of B and C placement students. You will also be able to develop and take part in staff teaching and support the team in audit and service developments. We have had the opportunity to present posters and abstracts at meetings such as UK Kidney Week and some of our dietitians have recently had articles published in peer reviewed journals.

The department has strong links with the Universities of Hull and York, Leeds Beckett University and with the British Dietetics Association.
