Band 6 – Gastroenterology & Nutrition Support Dietitian (Permanent)

37.5 hours

Locala provides comprehensive care and rehabilitation for adults in community settings.  An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 6 with a special interest in Gastroenterology conditions and nutrition support to join the dietetic outpatient service in Huddersfield. You will provide dietetic support for patients with complex gastroenterology and nutrition support needs requiring specialist input on an outpatient basis. This includes (but is not limited to) therapeutic diets to treat conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (e.g. low FODMAP), inflammatory bowel disease, lactose intolerance and bile acid malabsorption. Experience of assessment, treatment and dietetic counselling in this area is essential.  Having an understanding of the use elemental diets and some experience of working with patients who have food allergies (e.g. wheat) will also be an advantage to this post. As well as providing care on a one-to-one basis, the successful candidate will also deliver group education sessions for patients with coeliac disease.

This role requires a motivated dietitian with an ability to work autonomously and manage their given caseload effectively. Excellent communication skills are essential and you should be keen to establish links and engage with clinicians and the wider MDT.  In addition, good IT skills and flexibility are essential qualities.

Locala currently provides placements for A, B and C dietetic students (within the dietetic outpatient service, adult community rehab service and Care Home support dietetic teams). As the post holder will be actively involved in the provision of student training, experience in student training is an advantage.
