We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Registered Dietitian to join our already established Adult Mental Health (AMH) and Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) services in the York area. We are looking for a motivated Dietitian wanting to either expand and develop their skills, or learn new skills in a mental health and learning disability setting.

The post holder will work into 4 inpatient wards in the newly built (opened April 2020) Foss Park Hospital in York. Clinical areas include working with patients with mental health problems in inpatient settings, managing a range of clinical conditions including nutrition support. The post holder will also work with people with a variety of conditions from functional diagnoses such as depression and psychosis to organic diagnoses such as vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s dementia. The post holder will provide full assessment of needs and input to various ward meetings such as formulation meetings, falls management and physical health/frailty care.

The post holder will have the opportunity to participate in policy development, audit, research activities, pathway development, staff and student training.

This post is part of a wider dietetic team which covers adult mental health, children and young people, eating disorders, learning disabilities and secure inpatient services – with these areas supported by our Professional Head of Dietetic Services and several highly skilled Lead Dietitians.

Candidates should be a Registered Dietitian, preferably with some experience of working in a mental health setting, with excellent communication and IT skills. A working knowledge of behaviour change and motivational interviewing would be desirable. We have a robust clinical supervision structure and you would have opportunities to receive formal and informal training. You will receive regular clinical supervision with the Lead Dietitian, with a strong emphasis on Continued Professional Development and post-graduate training and parking in our trust car parks is free.
