Job Description

About the role and our team

Join our team as a Clinical Dietitian to undertake both in and outpatient work on the Isle of Man!

Within this role, you’ll have the autonomy to manage your own time including clinical caseload, weekly clinics and training sessions which provides you with flexibility to complete audits and engage in projects.

This is an exciting and varied role where you will provide a service to the acute medical wards, stroke unit and coronary care unit as well as delivering regular education on the cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programme and nursing induction programmes.

A typical day will include completing dietetic assessments and reviews on the acute ward, contributing to the running of outpatient clinics as well as the delivery of cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation services.

Acute dietetic practice offers an abundance of opportunities to develop knowledge in a variety of different clinical areas which can be both challenging and rewarding. This is an excellent opportunity to gain clinical experience and knowledge whilst working as part of a small and innovative team.

Banding for this role will be determined based on experience and we welcome applications from newly qualified Dietitians or those already working in a Band 5 role who wish to take the next step in their career. There is also the opportunity to progress from a Band 5 to a Band 6 as competencies are met.

What can this role offer me?

By joining us you’ll be stepping away from NHS pressures and demands, as the Island’s healthcare system is similar but separate to the UK NHS.

You’ll be supported in this role with training and development opportunities such as attending courses and engaging in webinars and alternative ways of learning. The department will fund fees associated with learning.

You’ll have half a day a month allocated to Continuing Professional Development. The Department also has quarterly Clinical Update sessions where interesting cases, articles and recommendations are presented and discussed.

You’ll get the chance to deal with a diverse range of clinical cases and conditions managed. There is frequent exposure to managing and sharing care of complex clinical cases with tertiary centres.

You’ll develop supportive multi-professional working relationships with a range of people through the different initiatives and services you will be part of.

There are also regular opportunities to shadow specialist dietitians in the team and gain valuable insights and experience in different areas of clinical dietetics. There may also be the opportunity of gaining some paediatric experience, if desired.

About the Island and relocating

Here you can enjoy a fantastic quality of life, and an excellent work-life balance! There are plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities; so if you like walking, mountain biking, sailing or kayaking, you’ll have lots of places to explore!

There are also lots of great cafes, bars and restaurants, and you can enjoy the Island’s real sense of community. The island is well connected to the UK, and you’ll also benefit from low income tax rates (20% maximum rate).

If you are relocating or returning to the Island, you can also benefit from the Insurance Holiday Scheme, which allows you to apply for a refund on your NI contributions for your 1st year of living here. To see how this scheme could benefit you, and to find out more about relocating to the Isle of Man, visit www.locate.im

A relocation package of up to £7,000 based on receipts is available for this role. Housing Assistance is also available where the Department will pay the difference between your current mortgage/rent bill, and that of your new accommodation on the Isle of Man, up to a maximum of £250 per month.
