Job Description

UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAM

  • Assistant Professor in Clinical Nutrition
  • Fixed term
  • Biosciences – Food, Nutrition & Dietetics
  • £36,914 to £49,553 per annum (pro-rata if applicable) depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.
  • Reference: SCI241121

Applications are invited for the above post from those with expertise in Dietetics or Clinical Nutrition. This offers an exciting opportunity to be involved in the Nutrition education at the University of Nottingham and would be suitable for candidates with prior experience in higher education or practicing Dietitians as well as Clinical Nutritionists from a Dietetics specialist area such as nutrition support, diabetes or paediatrics, who wish to embark on such a career.

The post is based within the Division of Food, Nutrition and Dietetics in the School of Biosciences. The Division offers an undergraduate degree in Nutrition, but also other Nutrition related degrees, which includes a BSc Food Science and Nutrition. It also delivers a four-year master’s degree in Dietetics and Nutrition (MNutr), providing training in Dietetics. In addition, the Division also offers MSc programmes in Nutritional Sciences and Clinical Nutrition.

You will be expected to have a teaching and related administration focus, contributing to the delivery of programmes associated with our MSc Clinical Nutrition degree, but will also make contributions to our nutrition-related degrees. You will be expected to adopt a rigorous scholarly approach to teaching and student learning, demonstrating clear goals and critical reflection. You will have clinically associated Nutrition knowledge and experience.

Ideally, you should have a higher degree (MSc or PhD or be working towards these) in Nutrition or Dietetics, or equivalent substantial experience in a clinical setting. Experience of teaching in higher education at an undergraduate or postgraduate level is desired, and a Postgraduate qualification in teaching (or equivalent) would be preferable.

This is a full-time (36.25 hour), fixed term post for 18 months. Job share arrangements may be considered.
